Matcha Lemonade
When life gives me lemons, I make matcha lemonade! Refreshing and sweet drink made with half matcha tea and half lemonade, layered between ice cubes.
Drink
- 3 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
- 150ml water
- 1 Tbsp agave syrup
- 1 tsp superior matcha powder
- 40 ml hot water
Method
- Prepare the lemonade by squeezing the lemon and adding the agave syrup. Whisk well and add the water.
- Pour the prepared lemonade into a glass filled with ice cubes.
- Make your matcha shot: sieve the matcha over a bowl, add 40 ml of hot water (70 to 80°C – not boiling), and whisk the matcha in an M motion with a bamboo whisk. Alternatively, you can use an aerolatte whisk.
- Once you have a nice matcha foam, pour it gently over the lemonade in the glass.
- Top the drink with a lemon wedge.
- With a straw, stir gently to combine all the layers.
One of the most refreshing summer drinks, adding matcha gives more depth to this all-time favorite. The sweetness of this drink is very personal; add more agave if needed. For a milder matcha flavor, you can add only ½ teaspoon. The lemonade can be made ahead, but the matcha shot should be made just before serving to avoid matcha powder sinking to the bottom.
