Matcha Glaze for Cinnamon Buns

How to make the perfect Matcha Glaze for Cinnamon Buns.

Ingredients

  • 250g icing sugar (sifted to remove lumps)
  • 30g butter (melted)
  • 5ml vanilla extract (2 teaspoons)
  • 60ml milk
  • 2 to 3 tsp matcha powder (adjust based on your preferred intensity)

Method

1 - Prepare the Glaze

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sifted icing sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the milk while whisking until smooth and slightly runny. Adjust the milk quantity if needed to achieve your desired consistency.

2 - Add Matcha

  • Sift the matcha powder into the glaze to prevent lumps, then whisk until the glaze is evenly green and smooth. Adjust the matcha amount based on your flavour and colour preference.

3 - Glaze the Cinnamon Buns

  • Pour the matcha glaze over the cinnamon buns. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it, if necessary.

4 - Serve

  • Allow the glaze to set slightly before serving. Enjoy the perfect balance of earthy matcha and sweet cinnamon buns!

For a thicker glaze, use less milk.
